Core chaplets support the core in the mold. They are used when the casting design makes it impossible to provide adequate core prints or when the core is likely to sag, float or shift position as molten metal enters the mold.
Core chaplets are made of low carbon steel or the same material with the casting, tin-coated (hot dipped or electroplated) to prevent their oxidation and subsequent contamination of the melt.
They are accurate in sizes and highly strengthened.
Core chaplets are widely used for castings of automobiles, engines, machine tools, valves etc.
